Mumbai: The Indian stock market witnessed a boom on the last day of this week on Friday with railways, power and banking stocks witnessed heavy buying. At the end of the day, the market stopped rising due to this purchase. A decision taken by the RBI saw a good rally in the banking stocks and the Bombay Stock Exchange index rose 333 points to settle at 66,599 points and the National Stock Market Index Nifty rose 93 points to 19,819 points. In Friday's trading, share prices of banking, auto, energy, infra, consumer goods, oil and gas sectors showed a rise, while, IT, pharma, FMCG, healthcare, media, real estate sectors witnessed strong selling. The mid cap index rose by 383 points to settle at 40,977 points. So, the small cap index closed higher. 21 out of 30 companies in the Sensex index rose in share price. So, share prices of 32 companies in Nifty 50 closed with gains.
Major stocks witnessed rally
Share price of NTPC rose by 2.65 percent in Friday's trade. Apart from that, Tata Motors gained 2.2 percent, Larsen gained 1.93 percent, Bajaj Finserv gained 1.42 percent, Bharti Airtel gained 1.02 percent, Titan gained 0.85 percent, HDFC Bank gained 0.82 percent. Whereas, the share price of ITC saw a fall of 0.71 percent. Shares of Wipro were down 0.58 percent, Tech Mahindra was down 0.54 percent. The Mumbai Stock Exchange (BSE) saw a higher number of shares closing higher today. A total of 3,820 shares were traded on the exchange today. Out of these, 2043 companies' shares closed higher. At the same time, 1,650 shares saw a decline. While there was no change in share prices of 127 companies. Apart from this, shares of 326 companies touched their 52-week highs during today's trade. At the same time, shares of 15 companies hit new 52-week lows.
1.82 lakh crore increase in investors' wealth
On Friday, the total market capitalization of companies listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) reached Rs 320.92 lakh crore on September 8. On the previous trading day i.e. September 7, the market capitalization was Rs 319.10 lakh crore. Thus, the market capitalization of companies listed on BSE today has increased by around Rs 1.82 lakh crore.
