How to Apply Online for Passport
To apply for a passport online, first go to the Passport Seva website. After that register yourself and login here if your account is already created. After doing this, click on Apply for Fresh Passport/Reissue Passport option. Now you will be given an application form, fill all the details asked here and click on submit option. Now you go to the home page and click on View Saved/Submitted Applications to see what information you have mentioned in the application. After that click on Pay and Schedule Appointment. Through this you can book an appointment at the Passport Seva Kendra. Now select the payment option and proceed with payment. After that print the application receipt and download the receipt. On the day you get the appointment, you should bring all the original documents with you when you go to the Passport Seva Kendra.
What documents are required ?
For passport you should carry proof of current residential address, electricity or any other bill, income tax assessment order, voter ID card, Aadhaar card, rent agreement (if living on rent) and a copy of passport if your parents have it. You can carry birth certificate, voter ID card and Aadhaar card or PAN card with you. If your documents are correct, the application process will normally take at least one hour at the Passport Seva Kendra. How long does it take for the passport to arrive at home?
It usually takes 30 to 45 days to get a passport and when applying for urgent passport, it takes 7 to 14 days. This means you can get your passport in two weeks. Some documents are required to get passport urgently. You can get the information on the website while filling the application form.
