Mumbai. You must have heard Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor saying 'Jhakaas' many times. But now if you want to utter this word 'Jhakaas', you will have to take permission from Anil Kapoor. The Delhi High Court has banned the use of nicknames associated with Jhakaas and Anil Kapoor such as Mr. India, AK and Majnu Bhai. Kapoor had recently filed a petition in the Delhi High Court for the protection of his personality rights. In the petition, the actor had demanded to ban various organizations from using his name, voice, images and nickname without his consent. Now the Delhi High Court, protecting the personality rights of the actor, has banned the use of his name, image or voice without his consent.
Celebrities have right to maintain privacy
While hearing the case, Justice Pratibha M Singh said that no person's name, voice, image or dialogue can be allowed to be used illegally. The livelihood of many people depends on a celeb endorsing, it cannot be spoiled by allowing it to be used illegally. Along with this, the court said that many people are interfering in the personal lives of others by using artificial intelligence. Celebrities also have the right to maintain their privacy. While prohibiting people from making such videos viral, the court has also directed the Telecommunication Department and the Central Government to immediately remove all the links.
Name misused on social media
Apart from this, the court will also issue an order to block all other links uploading obscene videos related to the actor. Earlier in 2022, the High Court had also given relief to Amitabh Bachchan in a similar case. Kapoor had said in his petition that his name's initial AK or words like his nickname Lakhan, Mr. India, Majnu Bhai and Jhakas have been misused on many platforms including social media. Not only this, their names, pictures and other things are being used illegally in public and commercial use through Artificial Intelligence.
