Mumbai. Mumbai International Airport has set a new record for Air Traffic Movements (ATM) during Diwali season and just one day ahead of this festival of lights, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) handled a record 1032 flights on that day with1.61 lakh passengers. Earlier, the record of highest number of landings and takeoffs of flights in a day was on December 9, 2018, when it managed the movement of 1,004 flights in a day. Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani shared this information on social media. International Airport Limited (MIAL) said that a total of 1,61,445 passengers were handled at the airport on November 11, which included 1,07,765 domestic and 53,680 international passengers. MIAL is managed by Adani Airport Holding Limited (AAHL), a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, the flagship company of the globally diversified Adani Group. MIAL is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) venture between AAHL, which holds the majority stake, and the Airports Authority of India.
5.16 lakh passengers traveled during Diwali
Growth in passenger traffic has been seen at the airport during Diwali weekend. A total of 5,16,562 passengers were handled by the airport from 11 to 13 November. Of these, 354,541 passengers traveled on domestic routes, while 162,021 took international flights. At the same time, this week, Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport landed or took off more than 2,894 flights with 2,137 domestic flights and 757 international flights. Between November 11 and 13, most of the travel was done on domestic routes, with most of the flights taken to Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai. Whereas at the international level, more flights were taken from Dubai, London, Abu Dhabi and Singapore.
