During this current festive season, the trend of passengers in the aviation sector has gone up. According to data released by the DGCA, the number of air travelers in the country increased by 11 percent in October and around 1.26 crore passengers traveled by air during this period. According to the statistics, Indigo Airlines is still the number one company in this sector, while Air India's market share has increased to 10.5 percent during this period.
Indigo on top of the list
Vistara and AirAsia's market share, however, has declined. SpiceJet and Akasa Air have lost their market share slightly. According to the figures released by the DGCA, more than 79 lakh people used Indigo Airlines. This company remains number one in the Indian market. In September, the company's market share was 63.4 percent. The air transport sector in the country is growing at a rate of about 11 percent every year. In September, these companies transported approximately 1.22 crore people from one place to another.
Flight cancellations affected 30,307 passengers
Over the past month, Vistara and AirAsia India have lost a bit of market share. Now Vistara's market share is 9.7 percent and AirAsia's 6.6 per cent. SpiceJet's market share has increased from 4.4 percent to 5 percent. Apart from this, Aakash still captures 4.2 percent of the market. According to aviation regulator DGCA, 587 passengers were denied seats in October due to various reasons. Also, flight cancellations affected 30,307 passengers. Last month, more than 1.78 lakh passengers faced difficulties due to delays.
