The possible deal between Tata Consumer Products Limited (TCPL) and Bisleri has been cancelled and after the cancellation of this deal, Chauhan's daughter Jayanti has decided to take charge of the mineral water company. Jayanthi (42), is the daughter of Ramesh Chauhan, chairman of Bisleri International. Also important to mention that with 32% market share, Bisleri is the leader in the Rs 20,000 crore packaged drinking water segment in the country. According to a report, Jayanti Chauhan will now head Bisleri. TCPL has refused to buy bottled water company Bisleri. After this, the company management decided to make Jayanthi the head only after the deal with Tata was cancelled. Presently Jayanthi Chauhan is working as the Vice Chairperson of the company.
Focus on Vedika brand
Jayanti has been associated with the mineral water business from time to time over the years. The Vedika brand, part of Bisleri's portfolio, has been a major focus of his in recent years. Ramesh Chauhan (82) had earlier this year struck a deal to sell Bisleri to the Tata group for Rs 7,000 crore. However, on March 18, Tata Consumer's deal with Bisleri, India's largest bottled water brand, got cancelled. Tata Consumer had given information about the closure of talks to buy Bisleri in an exchange filing 3 days ago.
Made changes in the sales and marketing team
At the age of 24, Jayanthi started working with her father in Bisleri's Delhi office. In her early days, Jayanthi focused on plant renovation and process automation for Bisleri. Apart from the HR of the company, she also made significant changes in the sales and marketing team. In the year 2011, Jayanti shifted from Delhi to Mumbai. He has been instrumental in the operations of Bisleri's new brands such as Himalaya's Vedika Natural Mineral Water, Fiji Fruit Drinks and Bisleri Hand Purifiers business.
Bisleri was bought in 1969 for Rs 4 lakh
Bisleri was bought by Ramesh Chauhan in 1969 for about Rs 4 lakh. Ramesh Chauhan has also made soft drink brands Thums Up, Gold Spot and Limca. However, he sold it to Coca-Cola. Ramesh, who popularized 'Bisleri' in India, was born on 17 June 1940 in Mumbai to Jayantilal and Jaya Chauhan. Ramesh's friends fondly call him RJC. He has done Mechanical Engineering and Business Management. Always known to be ahead of his time, Chauhan introduced bottled mineral water to the Indian market at the age of 27.
