Mumbai. E-commerce giant Amazon has once again planned to lay off 9,000 employees in the second round of layoffs in the next few weeks. Amazon announced this on March 20. Earlier, Amazon has laid off 18,000 employees in the last few months. According to a memo sent to employees by Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, most of the job cuts at the company will be in departments such as AWS (Amazon Web Services), People Experience and Technology (PXT), Advertising and Twitch.
But it will hire in strategic areas
Jesse said it was a very difficult decision, but necessary for the long-term success of the company. Andy Jesse said that Amazon will be hiring in some strategic areas. Notably, Amazon's decision comes just two months after the company announced the layoff of 18,000 employees in the first round. In November 2022, Andy Jesse said that the company would continue to lay off employees until 2023. The company then announced that they were laying off employees from the Devices, Books business and PXT. After this, Jesse had said in January that 18,000 employees would be laid off. Most of the layoffs will be from Amazon stores and PXT departments.
