Mumbai. The 'heat' for air travelers this year has already begun. If you are planning to visit the hill station during the summer holidays, book your flight tickets in advance, because this time the number of flights will be less in the summer season. During the summer schedule starting from March 26, the airlines operating in the country will operate a total of 22,907 weekly domestic flights. This number of flights is less than last year's summer schedule of 25,309. However, according to aviation regulator DGCA, the number of flights operated in summer is 4.4 per cent higher as compared to 21,941 weekly flights operated in winter season. The summer schedule is from March 26 to October 28.
11 domestic airlines will operate
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in a press release that the summer schedule will see 22,907 flights per week from 110 airports, compared to 21,941 flights per week from 106 airports in the 2022 winter schedule. This season, at least 11 domestic airlines will operate services on different routes, with IndiGo having the highest number of 11,465 weekly flights, while in 2022 the number was 10,085. SpiceJet will have only 2,240 weekly flights in the summer schedule, which is about 30 percent less than the 3,193 weekly flights in the winter schedule. At the same time, Tata Group-owned Air India will operate 2,178 weekly flights, which is 9.45 percent more than 1,990 flights in winter.
Prices of tickets may go higher
The DGCA said that out of these 110 airports, Jaipur, Coochbehar, Hollongi, Jamshedpur, Pakyong and Mopa (Goa) are new airports proposed by scheduled airlines, while operations from Ziro and Hindon airports are not proposed in the summer schedule 2023. Since the number of flights in summer this year is less as compared to last year, so if the air traffic is high, then its effect can be seen on the price of tickets, so if you are planning to travel somewhere in summer, then take 2-3 months Book tickets first.
