Mumbai. Rajesh Gopinathan, Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of IT services company TCS has resigned. TCS said that in place of Rajesh Gopinathan, K. Krithivasan has been made the new CEO of TCS, who will take charge of this post from March 16. Significantly, Gopinathan has said goodbye to the company after working for 22 years. He has held the position of MD and CEO of the company for 6 years. Krithivasan is currently the company's president and Global Head of Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) Business Group. He has been working in the company for 34 years. On his resignation, Gopinathan said, 'I have enjoyed my 22-year-long career at TCS. I had the pleasure of working with the Chairman of the company, N. Chandrasekaran, who mentored me throughout my tenure. As CEO, it has been great for me to work in this large organization for 6 years.
What TCS says
TCS said, ' Gopinathan will remain with the company till September 2023 to provide support and transition to his successor. From March 16, the designated CEO K. Krithivasan will go through a transition phase and will be appointed as the CEO in the next financial year.
Gopinathan had an excellent track record
Rajesh Gopinathan studied at NIT Tiruchirappalli and IIM Ahmedabad and started his career with Tata Strategic Management Group in April 1996. He joined TCS from 2001 and held the position of CFO from 2013-17. After this, from 2017 to 2023, Gopinathan worked as the CEO of the company. Then the lifer of Tata Group i.e. the whole career was spent with Tata.
Krithivasan, a Mechanical Engineering from Krithivasan Madras University
Krithivasan holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Madras and a Masters' degree in Industrial and Management Engineering from IIT Kanpur. He has been the President and Global Head of the Financial Services and Insurance Business Group at TCS and has been working with the company since 1989 with close to 34 years of global technology experience.
