Enumerating the achievements of the 9-year rule of the Narendra Modi government, Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has informed that India's road network has grown by 59% in the last 9 years. India has also become the second largest country in the world in terms of road network. Gadkari informed that India's road network has now increased to 1,45,240 km, which was only 91,287 km in 2013-14. He said these things while addressing a conference on 'Achievements of the Government in 9 years' in Delhi and told that in the last 9 years, India has made 7 world records in the road sector. He said, 'Today India's road network has reached the second number in the world after America. The minister further informed that the revenue from toll has now increased to Rs 41,342 crore, which was Rs 4,770 crore in 2013-14.
Revenue from toll 1.3 lakh crore!
Gadkari said, 'The government's target is to increase toll revenue to Rs 1.3 lakh crore by 2030. The use of FASTag has helped in reducing the waiting time at toll plaza by 47 seconds. He said that the government is taking several measures to reduce it to less than 30 seconds.
Trucks will now have AC cabins
Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari also announced that air-conditioned cabins will be mandatory for truck drivers from 2025. The government has taken this decision to reduce the cost in the country's logistics sector, reduce the adverse effect on the health of drivers during long journeys and prevent road accidents. He also said that in 5 years the toll collection increased from Rs 22,820 crore to Rs 50,855 crore. This year i.e. in the first 6 months till June 19, the government earned Rs 28,180 crore from FASTag. Between 2021 and 2022, there has been a 46% increase in the earnings from Fastag. It increased from Rs 34,778 crore to Rs 50,855 crore.
