Mumbai. Now soon Maruti cars will be seen running on bio gas made from cow dung and to actualize this, the company has signed a deal with Banas Dairy, Asia's largest dairy producer. Apart from this, it has also invested in Fujisan Asagiri Biomass LLC of Japan. This company produces electricity from bio gas made from cow dung and will start selling electricity by March 2023. The company introduced the new flex fuel model of WagonR at the Auto Expo this time.
Bio gas is economical source of energy
Bio gas is a better and economical source of energy. India has the largest number of cattle in the world. That's why production of bio gas can become a big sector. Bio gas (methane or cow dung gas) is obtained by fermentation of cattle dung in a digester at low temperature. Maruti Suzuki said in its report that 10 cows make as much dung in a day. The bio gas produced from it is enough for a car to drive every day. The company says that Suzuki has a 70% share in the CNG car market in India.
Suzuki to bring electric two-wheeler in 2024
The company is also working on a mid-size electric bike which will be introduced in FY 2024. Suzuki's electric two-wheeler portfolio line-up till 2030 includes 8 vehicles. During this time, the company will make 25% battery EV and 75% internal combustion engine based two-wheeler. There is still doubt on launching these two-wheelers in the Indian market. The company is working on adopting carbon neutrality fuel for the bikes. At the Auto Expo 2023, it has introduced its flex fuel bike Gixxer.
Objective is to tackle CO2 emissions
The company wants to tackle CO2 emissions from the vehicle. Not only this, Suzuki is not only looking to develop CNG automotive solutions around biogas for India, but also plans to export business to other agricultural sectors including Africa, ASEAN and Japan in the future.
