Winning Bizness Desk
Mumbai. Former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) governor Raghuram Rajan has termed Rahul Gandhi's 'Pappu' image as unfortunate saying that he is a smart statesman. He said that he has spent almost a decade interacting with him on many fronts and never found him as 'Pappu' (fool) by any means. Rather he is a smart, young and curious person. Rajan said this on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos. He said that according to him a person should have the ability and good sense to take basic risks and evaluate them, and I think Rahul Gandhi has this ability and understanding.
Supported Bharat Jodo Yatra
On criticism of the economic policies of the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Raghuram Rajan said that he was also critical of the Congress government led by Manmohan Singh. On speculations of joining him politics, Raghuram Rajan said that he joined Bharat Jodo Yatra because I stand for the values of Yatra. "I am not joining any political party," he said. Notably, Raghuram Rajan had participated in the Bharat Jodo Yatra of the Congress party in Rajasthan last month. Raghuram also accompanied Rahul Gandhi for some time on Thursday during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. During this, Rahul Gandhi interviewed Raghuram during the rest of the journey. During this there was a long discussion between the two.
Economic disparity on the up
In the interview, Raghuram said that the country is getting poorer and poorer and richer and richer. Raghuram said that the rich whose work was being done online during the pandemic became richer, but those who had to go to the factory and work, remained at home. They got neither salary nor bonus... job is gone, so separate. Overall, the lower middle class people suffered the most.
