Mumbai. There has been good news for Veteran investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala's airlines company Akasa Air. It may soon start international flights. The company has operated more than 900 flights every week in the domestic market and has carried a total of 43 lakh passengers to their destinations in a year. With this record, the airline has become eligible for international operations with 20 aircraft within a year of its launch. Akasa Airlines was started on 7 August 2022. On 2 August 2023, the company had added the 20th aircraft to its fleet. For the first time, the operation of the flight started by the company between Mumbai and Ahmedabad on August 7, 2022. On the occasion of completion of one year of Akasa Airlines, the company has said that it has achieved a share of 4.9 percent of the domestic market within just one year. With this, the company has provided its services to a total of more than 43 lakh people within a year. With this, the airline has broken the record by operating 900 flights every week along with 35 routes to 16 destinations. Along with this, the company has also carried a total cargo of more than 25,000 tonnes. Since the inception of the company, its passenger load has increased by 84 percent in its operation, which is increasing at the rate of 90 percent in this financial year.

On the occasion of completion of one year of Akasa Airlines, the company's CEO Vinay Dubey said that we are happy with the growth of the company in the last one month. We have added another aircraft 737-8-200 to our flight earlier this month. Since then we have become eligible to offer our international flight services. The company had earlier informed that it is planning to start international flights by December 2023. Akasa Air has already placed an order for 76 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft-23B 737-8s and 53 high-capacity B 737-8-200 flights powered by the CFM LEAP-1B.
