Mumbai. Ever since Air India has gone under the ownership of Tata, its makeover efforts are going on continuously. Now Air India has started molding itself in new color and style and first of all it has released its new logo and livery. You can consider livery as a complete makeover of the aircraft. Golden, red and purple colors have been used in the makeover. The 91-year-old airline of Tata Group was working on it for 15 months. Air India's first Airbus A350 will join the fleet in December 2023 with a new logo and makeover. Future Brands has worked on branding with American Airlines and British luxury automobile brand Bentley. Notably, the airline had placed orders for 470 aircraft in the past. In this deal, Air India will get 250 aircraft from French company Airbus and 220 aircraft from American company Boeing. 31 aircraft will enter service by the end of the year, with the rest coming by mid-2025. This deal has also got approval from DGCA. At present Air India has 120 aircraft in its fleet. This includes the Airbus A320 family and Boeing's wide body 777 and 787 aircraft.
Features of the overhauling
The new livery in Air India's makeover retains the dark red letters of Air India, but the font is different. Gold window frames have been included in this. Apart from this, the identity of Air India has been its Maharaja mascot. It was designed in 1946. The brand icon was created by Bobby Kuka, the then commercial director of Air India, and artist Umesh Rao of advertising agency J.Walter Thompson. Later changes were also made in it. Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran said the new logo symbolizes limitless possibilities. He said that a lot of efforts are required to make the airline globally competitive. The company is now focusing on upgrading all human resources. Regarding the existing fleet, Chandrasekaran said that Air India has placed a large order for aircraft, but it will take some time for the new aircraft to arrive. "In the meantime, we have to renew our existing fleet and bring it to an acceptable level," he added.
Tata bought Air India from Govt for 18000 crores
In January 2022, the Tata Group bought the airline from the Indian government for Rs 18,000 crore. Now the management of Tata wants to compete with carriers like Emirates and Qatar Airways with the new makeover of Air India. The CEO of Air India said that the airline has so far spent $ 400 million, which is about Rs 3300 crore, on the renovation of the aircraft. Air India will undergo many other changes in the coming days. Investing in new lounges at JFK airports in Delhi and New York. A new website and mobile app will also be developed.
