How the election year forces parties to come up with populist budget, this can be seen in today's Maharashtra govt budget. 10k per month for skill training to youth, monthly allowance of Rs 1500 to women in the age group of 21-60, and three cylinders free per year to every family… Don't be surprised, so many announcements have been made in the budget of the Maharashtra government. Presenting a deficit budget of Rs 20,051 crore, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar announced that Mahayuti govt giving many benefits to women, youth and farmers. He said that Rs 80 thousand crore will be spent on these budget proposal.
Mukhyamantri Manjhi Ladki Behen Yojana
Besides, the government also made some big announcements in the budget presented before the assembly elections in Maharashtra. It announced to start 'Mukhyamantri Manjhi Ladki Behen Yojana' to provide financial assistance to women. It will be similar to Madhya Pradesh's Ladli Lakshmi and Ladli Behna Yojana. Women will also start getting this money from July. Under the Chief Minister Annapurna Yojana, the government will give three free LPG cylinders annually to more than 52 lakh families. For unemployed youth, a stipend of Rs 10,000 to 10 lakh will be given every month under the CM Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana.
Waive of electricity bills of more than 46 lakh farmers
The government will waive electricity bills of more than 46 lakh farmers. Cotton and soybean farmers will be given assistance at the rate of Rs 5000 per hectare. Onion farmers will get Rs 350 per quintal as subsidy. The steps include three free LPG cylinders in a year to families, electricity bill waiver for farmers. This budget was presented four months before the assembly elections in the state. Maharashtra Deputy CM and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar presented a budget with a revenue deficit of Rs 20,051 crore for the current financial year. On state Budget announcements, Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole says, "This is a 'Jumlebaaz' Budget. This budget has disappointed the people of Maharashtra. They tried to copy the 'guarantees' of the Congress party. But, even in that, they tried to get their commission."
