Mumbai. Hours within the country's largest user base telecom company Reliance Jio hiked tariff of its prepaid and postpaid plans, Vodafone also followed the suit and increased the mobile tariff. This telecom company has increased its tariff plan by up to 25 percent. At the same time, Vodafone has made its prepaid and postpaid plans costlier by 11 to 23 percent. The new unlimited voice calling plan has been increased marginally and thus the plan priced at Rs 179 for 28 days has now become Rs 199, which offers 2GB data, unlimited calling and 300 SMS. Similarly, the 84-day plan which was earlier priced at Rs 459 has now become Rs 509, which offers 6GB data with unlimited calling and 300 SMS. For long term users, the annual plan priced at Rs 1799 has been revised to Rs 1999, which includes 24GB data, unlimited calling and 300 SMS.
No hike for Jio Bharat and Jio Phone users
Telecom company Reliance Jio has increased its prepaid plans from 12.5 percent to 25 percent. The new rates will come into effect from July 3. The special thing is that the new rates will not apply to existing users. Reliance Jio has announced that there has been no increase in tariff for Jio Bharat and Jio Phone users. Reliance Jio has increased the prices of its 19 plans, of which 17 are prepaid and 2 are post paid. The special thing is that for the first time Jio has increased its tariff before Airtel. Reliance Jio Infocomm Chairman Akash M Ambani said in a statement that the launch of new plans is a step towards furthering industry innovation and promoting eco-friendly growth through investment in 5G and AI technology. According to the company's statement, unlimited 5G data will be available on all plans of 2 GB per day and above.
Airtel also made plans expensive
Notably, Airtel's tariff has been increased by 11% to 21% in prepaid plans and 10% to 20% in postpaid plans. The price of its entry level prepaid plan has increased by 11% to Rs 199 per month, which was earlier Rs 175 per month. Last year, the baseline of entry level tariff was increased from ₹ 155 per month, thus within a year the burden on the pockets of consumers has increased by more than 28%. The biggest increase of 20-21% will be on the full-year validity plan which was priced at ₹2,999 which will now cost ₹3,599, and the 56-day validity plan that offers 2GB data per day for free will now cost ₹579, which is the increase of 21%.
