From here the picture of India's telecom sector has changed forever. Within just 170 days of launch, Jio had crossed 100 million subscribers. It is currently the number one network in the country.

Many people may not be aware that the full name of Jio is 'Joint Implementation Opportunities' and the full name of the company is Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited. Reliance Jio's slogan is 'Digital Life' and its popular tagline is 'Jio Ji Bharke'. Isha has designed Jio's logo in collaboration with a German designer. There is also a hidden meaning in the logo of Jio. When you flip Jio, it becomes Oil, on which Reliance is based.
8 companies reduced to 4 now
Earlier, Airtel dominated the telecom market during the launch of Jio. There were 8 companies including Vodafone, Idea and BSNL which are now reduced to 4 left. Users had to pay an average of 58 paise for 1 minute of calls. The use of data was also very expensive. Jio understood this problem and initially everyone was given free SIM to capture the market. In this, 4GB data was given free for three months daily. Free unlimited calling and 100 messages daily also provided.
Jio came with feature phone with 4G
In 2017, when there were not enough 4G handsets in the country, Jio launched a feature phone with 4G. After building the user base, very cheap packs were launched. This strategy also forced other telecom operators to change their business models. BSNL was out of the race due to lack of 4G network. Even after the Vodafone-Idea merger, none could do any miracle and continuous decrease in their users still worrying them.
Number 1 with 413 crore customers
Airtel is currently standing in comparison to Jio. Airtel remains the second largest telecom company in the country with 36.3 crore users. Jio occupies 36% market share in India with 41.30 million mobiles and around 7 million Jio Fiber customers. Its share in terms of revenue is 40.3%. Mukesh Ambani has announced 5G launch till Diwali. After the launch of 5G, there can be a huge jump in data consumption.
Data consumption increased by 100 times
In 6 years, the telecom industry has grown by more than 100 times in average per capita data consumption per month. According to TRAI, before the launch of Jio, every Indian customer used to use only 154 MB of data in a month. Now the data consumption figure has increased by 100 times to reach 15.8 GB per month per subscriber. On the other hand, Jio users use about 20 GB of data every month.
