Mumbai. Reliance retail stores will now sell sweets as well. The company's eyes are on the sweet market of Rs 50,000 crore in the country and to capture this market, it has started selling sweets at more than 50 of its stores. The unorganized sweet market of the country is worth 50 thousand crores and the packaged market is worth Rs 4,500 crores. The company plans to capture this unorganized market share. Reliance Retail has tied up with them to bring the traditional confectionery to its stores.
To get rid of adulterated sweets
The company claims that it will get rid of adulterated sweets across the country. This will give an opportunity to small shops from the regional markets to move their products to the national level. The famous sweets that will be brought on the platform include 'Til Besan Laddu', 'Mumbai Halwa' by Ghasitaram, 'Darbesh Laddu and Methidana Laddu' by Prabhuji, 'Malpua' from Doodh Mishtan Bhandar (DMB), Lal Sweets, the company said. Available at Mysore Pak and Dharwad Peda Reliance Retail stores.
Famous sweets and snacks to be available
The famous Kachora and Chocolate Barfi from Rajasthan's Chavanilala Halwai will soon be available at Reliance stores. Damodar Malla, CEO, Grocery, Reliance Retail said, “We aspire to be the largest multi-brand confectionery in India. We want that the traditional sweets should not be confined to a particular locality. Reliance Retail is also helping regional sweet makers develop single-serve packs. Meaning if the customer wants, instead of Ghanaian dark chocolate, he can buy a small pack of desi Mysore pak or laddus.
