Indian businessmen have also been ahead in these works. One of these is the name of Shiv Nadar, the founder of HCL, an IT company. According to the EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2022, Shiv Nadar has donated an amount of Rs 1161 in a year. If calculated, he spent 3 crores daily as donations. Shiv Nadar has overtaken Azim Premji of Wipro by becoming the biggest donor of the country who until now was considered the biggest donor ever. However, he is second in this list and has donated Rs 484 crore in a year.
Nadar Foundation was started in 1994

Shiv Nadar has focused his philanthropic efforts mainly on education and has opened SSN Institutes, VidyaGyan, Shiv Nadar University, Shiv Nadar School. Hurun India and EdelGive on Thursday released the EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2022. Donation amount is measured by the value of their cash or cash equivalent from 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022. This is the ninth year of the list. According to this report, Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla is in fourth place. He has donated Rs 242 crore in this period. At the same time, Nandan Nilkani (159 crores), Kris Gopalakrishnan (90 crores) and SD Shibulal of Infosys have donated Rs 35 crores. Their ranking in this list is 9th, 16th and 28th respectively.
6 women also figure in the list of donors
This year's list includes six women and with a donation of Rs 120 crore, 63-year-old Rohini Nilekani is the country's most generous female philanthropist. Anas Rehman Junaid, Managing Director and Chief Researcher, Hurun India said that billionaires are involved in philanthropy and I expect this number to at least double in the next five years. Mindtree co-founders Subroto Bagchi and NS Parthasarathy are among the top 10 donors. Each of them donated Rs 213 crore. Ajit Isaac, Chairman, Ques Corporation, donated Rs 105 crore to the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. He ranked 12th in the list of donors. Apart from this, 36-year-old Nikhil Kamath of broking firm Zerodha has been named the youngest philanthropist in the EdelGive Hurun Philanthropy List 2022 in the list of youngest philanthropists. He and his brother Nitin Kamath increased their donation by 300 percent to Rs 100 crore this year.
