Mumbai. If you are also a beer lover then there is a bad news for you. Due to the huge increase in the prices of raw materials, now beer makers are considering increasing the prices of beer. In some states, many companies have increased the rates. This time due to the severe heat in March itself, the demand for beer has also increased drastically.
According to a report, companies say that the prices of barley used to make beer have doubled in three months. Apart from this, the prices of labels, cartoons and bottle crowns have also gone up by up to 25 per cent. Glass makers have also increased the rates by up to 30 percent. In such a situation, now there is no way in front of the beer companies except to increase the rate.
Prudent price hikes
Rishi Pardal, Chief Executive Officer of United Breweries, says that the company is increasing the prices of beer in Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and many smaller states. United Breweries produces beer under the brand names Kingfisher and Heineken. Pardal says the company is looking at "prudent price hikes". At the same time, B9 Beverages has increased the prices of its brand Bira 91 in many states. Not only this, the company has also changed the composition of its product mix to avoid the impact of inflation.
Price hike compulsion
Prem Diwan, managing director of Devan's Modern Breweries, says that now there are only two ways in front of him when expenses increase. Either we increase the price of the beer bottle or we end the discount we give. Devans manufactures famous beer brands such as Godfather, Coatesburg Pills and Six Fields. State governments control the prices of liquor in India. A major part of the revenue of the state governments comes from the tax collected from the sale of liquor.
Prices of main ingredients got high
Ankur Jain, founder and CEO of B9 Beverages, says that glass, aluminium, wheat and barley are the main ingredients in making beer. The prices of some of these things have increased a lot or their supply is not enough. So at the moment we are trying to ensure the availability of these things so that the production is not affected.
