Mumbai. The housing sector of the country has gained momentum in the last financial year as the figures related to employment stood good. The service class accounted for the largest 68% share in the total purchase of houses during 2021-22. Professionals like doctors, lawyers and CAs came second with 26% share. The demand for mid- and large-sized houses was the highest in the last financial year. According to a report by real estate services company Anarock released on Tuesday, the demand for houses in the 'mid-to-high-end' segment saw 79%.
2BHK in high demand
The demand for 2-BHK houses stood at 38%, while the share of 3-BHK houses in the total demand was 26%. This report has been prepared on the basis of housing trends in 7 major cities of the country, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune.
Bangalore leads in demand for high end homes
Rahul Fondage, Chief Business Officer, Anarock Group said, “Chennai and Pune accounted for the highest demand for mid-sized homes at 60% and 59%, respectively. On the other hand, around 56% of the demand came from high-end homes in the country's IT hub Bengaluru. But Hyderabad saw the highest demand for 17% luxury houses and 8% for ultra-luxury houses.
Highest sales of 4-BHK houses in Delhi-NCR
According to the report, Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) accounted for the highest sales of 4-BHK homes at 17%. Apart from this, studio category houses accounted for 16% of the total sales. Mid-range houses sold the maximum 46% in Mumbai, while high-end houses accounted for 39% of the total sales. On the other hand, about 16% of the houses in Bangalore were bought with a long-term investment perspective.
