The rules and fees for making duplicate tickets are different for different classes. As soon as the ticket is lost, the first thing the passenger has to do is to go to the ticket checker and inform him about the missing ticket. A passenger can also get a duplicate ticket made by visiting the ticket counter.
Duplicate tickets are not made for free
According to a report, the process of making duplicate tickets has been explained in detail on the official website of Indian Railways, indianrail.gov.in. Duplicate tickets are not made for free. Some fee has to be paid for this. You will get a duplicate ticket for second and sleeper class for Rs 50. For making a duplicate ticket for the above category, you will have to pay Rs 100. If the confirmed ticket is lost after the preparation of the reservation chart, then 50% of the fare has to be paid.
No duplicate tickets for torn tickets with waiting lists
If your ticket is torn after confirmation, then the duplicate ticket will be available only after paying 25% of the fare. On the other hand, Railways does not issue duplicate tickets for torn tickets with waiting lists. If your lost original ticket is found, then you can get both the tickets paid for the duplicate ticket by showing them at the railway counter before the departure of the train. However, you will be deducted five percent from the money.
