Mumbai- Anticipating that ongoing battle between Russia and Ukraine could end sooner, Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex is trading high by 300 points on Thursday afternoon reaching upto 55,760. Tata Steel stock was up 4%. Investors have benefited to the tune of Rs 1 lakh crore. Today the market cap pegged at Rs 253.90 lakh crore while yesterday it was Rs 251.75 lakh crore.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex fell 778 points (1.38%) to 55,468 while the National Stock Exchange's Nifty lost 188 points (1.12%) to close at 16,605. Today the Sensex opened up 453 points at 55,921. It made a high of 55,996 and a low of 55,842 in the first hour.
Out of its 30 stocks, 5 are in decline and 25 are in gains. The major losers were TCS along with Nestle, UltraTech, Maruti and Asian Paints. Major stocks to rise are IndusInd Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, HDFC Bank, PowerGrid, NTPC, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Titan, SBI, ITC, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Sun Pharma, Infosys, HCL, Axis Bank and Kotak Bank. Apart from these, there are Reliance Industries, Airtel, Hindustan Unilever and others.
185 stocks of Sensex are in upper and 73 lower circuits. This means that their prices cannot rise or fall more than a certain limit in a day. Of the companies listed in the Sensex, 2,169 stocks are up and 328 are down. Its 43 shares are at one-year high and 7 at low level.
On the other hand, the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange is trading at 16,697 with a gain of 91 points. It opened at 16,723 and made a low of 16,696 and an upper level of 16,768. The four major Nifty indices are Nifty 50, Nifty Bank, Financial and Next 50. Out of its 50 stocks, 42 are up and 8 are down. Asian Paints, UltraTech, Maruti, Nestle and others are among the losers. The major growers are Indian Oil, Coal India, Wipro, Bharat Petroleum.
