Mumbai: In the month of April, the mobile numbers of about 75 lakh subscribers of Airtel and Jio have been closed. Now these sim numbers have been put off themselves or due to some reason, it is not yet fully known. However, it is unlikely that people have stopped using mobile phones. That is, one thing is being indicated from this that it can be the number, which is the second number of these subscribers. Those who were using more than one mobile number, these numbers may have been switched off.
Why would people do this ?
Here also a question may come to mind that why would someone have switched off their second SIM or other mobile number? A major reason for this could be the rapid increase in mobile tariffs in the last months. With the increase in mobile tariff prices by up to 20-25 per cent, many people may find it too expensive to have more than one mobile number. On the other hand, it is also possible that people who have not recharged their second number for a long time, have been closed by the company. Companies used to send messages continuously to such customers asking them to recharge their number or else it would be closed.
40.5 crore subscribers
According to TRAI data, the number of mobile subscribers of Jio has reached 40.5 crore with 16.8 lakh new subscribers. Bharti Airtel also added 8.1 lakh new customers in April. With this, the total number of customers using the company's services has increased to 3611 million. During April, 2022, 15.68 lakh customers left Vodafone-Idea, taking the company's total subscriber base to 259 million. BSNL has also lost a lot of subscribers in the month of April.
Companies removing non-paying customers
All telecom companies are removing such customers who are not getting their mobile numbers recharged. In this way companies are preparing for the auction of 5G spectrum. She is removing the extra burden from her network. The trend of having a second SIM started during 2010, as new offers and schemes started pouring in. There was a time when the connections of Indian telecom companies became equal to the population of India. All this happened because of people keeping extra sims, now this trend is falling due to increase in prices.
