The DGFT on Wednesday said that the provisions under transitional arrangement will not be applicable under this notification. A separate notification will be issued regarding the necessary provisions for the quality of wheat flour.

However, there is no absolute ban on export of wheat flour and related products like maida, samolina (rava/sirgi), wholemeal flour and resultant flour. The notification said that disruption in global supply of wheat and wheat flour has created many new players and has led to price volatility and potential quality issues. Therefore, it is imperative to maintain the quality of wheat flour exports from India.
16 lakh tonnes of wheat export even after the ban
Significantly, on May 13, 2022, the DGFT had decided to ban the export of wheat. However, even after imposing restrictions on wheat exports, India is supplying them to the needy countries. DGFT has issued registration certificates for the export of 16 lakh tonnes of wheat after the order of ban on exports. Giving this information, an official said that exporters who had valid L/C on the date before the stop order, have been allowed to export wheat. The government is allowing export of wheat to those exporters who have irrevocable L/C before May 13.
