Mumbai. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on Friday has once again issued guidelines regarding the use of Aadhaar card, advising Aadhaar card holders to use Aadhaar of their choice to avail facilities and services and take the same precautions as for cards and passports and bank accounts. UIDAI said on Friday that people should take precautionary steps of Aadhar card which is taken for any reliable company, Mobile Number, Bank Account Number or Passport, Voter ID, PAN Card, Ration Card etc.
Aadhaar card is your digital ID
Aadhaar card is a kind of digital ID of the holder and is used as its identity online and offline for residents across the country. Residents can verify their Identity Proof through electronic or offline verification. UIDAI says use Aadhaar as per your choice to avail services, but use the same hygiene as other identity documents including bank account, PAN or passport. If a person does not want to share his Aadhaar Number, UIDAI provides the facility to generate Virtual Identifiers (VID). One can easily create VID through the official website or Myadhaar portal. Can use it for authentication in place of Aadhaar number. VID can also be changed after the end of the calendar day.
Biometric Locking facility is also available
Apart from Aadhaar locking, UIDAI Biometric Locking facility is available. If a resident is not likely to use Aadhaar for a specified period, he can lock Aadhaar or biometrics for this period. It can be unlocked easily and quickly when required. Aadhaar holders can contact UIDAI on the toll-free helpline 1947 regarding any unauthorized use of Aadhaar or any other information. Also, 24×7 or can reach out at help@uidai.gov.in
