Mumbai. Most of the temple trusts, mostly Hindu temples, in the country rarely disclose the cash amount stashed in its bank account. Many such cases are mostly known only under Right to Information (RTI) which has led us to know that Shri Padmanabhaswamy Temple of Kerala had become very famous years ago for its priceless wealth kept in secret vaults. Similarly, now another temple in the state of Kerala has come into limelight due to the property worth crores in its name. Its amount is so much that its discussion has started everywhere. This temple is centuries old. Lord Vishnu is worshiped in the form of Krishna in this temple. Every year thousands of people from all over the country come to see this temple as it attracts everyone. An RTI was filed on behalf of Haridas to know the amount of fund and in it's response, the details of the property of the temple have come to the fore.
Also holds 271.05 acres of land
RTI reply has revealed that the famous Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple has a bank deposit of Rs 1,737 crore (Rs 1737,04,90,961). Also 271.05 acres of land is near the temple. The temple also reportedly has a huge collection of gold, silver and precious stones, which have been received as gifts from devotees. The temple management has refused to disclose the details and price due to security reasons.
Value of land not assessed
In response to RTI on Thursday, the management has claimed that the temple has 271.0506 acres of land, but its value has not been assessed by the management. In response to another question, information was received that Rs 1,737,04,90,961 is deposited in several banks of the temple. The temple management has informed that since the Pinarayi Vijayan government came to power in the year 2016, it has not received any financial assistance till date.
