Mumbai. This concluding year 2022 has proved no less than a nightmare for Meta as most of the decisions taken by the tech giant this year only harmed the company. The biggest decision was that the name of the company was changed to Meta which has not yet found acceptance among the common people. Even the departure of the company's COO, Sheryl Sandberg, has been very damaging for Meta, after which the company's performance was at backseat. In the passion of making Metaverse, Mark Zuckerberg changed the name of the company to Metaverse. Horizon World was launched in August, but the company's fortunes did not change. In Horizon World, part of the avatar's waist disappeared which was criticized a lot by the users and their n users fell below 2 lakhs, which was less than the launch target.
Metaverse naming too did harm
The desire to make the company metaverse caused a lot of damage to meta, due to which, the company lost a valuation of $ 237 billion i.e. Rs 19.5 lakh crore on a single day in the month of February. Till date, there had never been such a huge loss in America. Even after that, at the behest of co-founder Mark, work on Mataverse continued and money kept pouring in on this project. The departure of the company's COO Sherrill Sandgarb also affected Meta. He recognized the company as a profit making company in the advertising business. His reaction to every good and bad decision of Mark was very important, but after his departure, there was no one to stop and interrupt Zuckerberg.
Wrong decision to beat Tiktok
Meta took a lot of wrong decisions to beat Tiktok. Recommended content doubled on Instagram in the second quarter to beat Tik Tok in the race. It was expected that this decision would see an increase in the users of Instagram, but since then the users have termed it as a copy of Tiktok.
Introducing BlenderBot 3
In the month of August, Meta introduced BlenderBot 3, an AI chatbot. According to the announcement, the purpose of bringing BlenderBot 3 was to move forward with a wider approach in diversity, but BlenderBot 3 proved to be an anti-cinematic. Within days of its release, BlenderBot 3 garnered anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. Claimed that Donald Trump won the 2020 US presidential election, and said that Zuckerberg was "very creepy and manipulative". After that Zuckerberg also attached the legs on Horizon. For some time it seemed that this decision was proving to be completely right. But a video editor revealed that Meta has used motion capture technology for this, due to which the demo failed.
