Mumbai. Claiming that Rs 1.25 lakh crore of black money has been seized since the Narendra Modi government came to power, Railways, Communications and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Monday said transparency is an important aspect of this government's model of good governance. Talking to reporters, Vaishnav said that apart from attachment of assets worth about Rs 4,300 crore, registration of 1.75 lakh companies has also been canceled to ensure transparency during the Modi government. He said that the Prime Minister during his long public service has perfected the model of good governance which was started in Gujarat. He further said that now the same model of Gujarat is being implemented at the national level. Stating that in this model of good governance, basically the common man is at the center of every activity, Vaishnav said that transparency is also an important aspect of this model. While talking about transparency, registration of about 1.75 lakh companies has been cancelled, black money worth about Rs 1.25 lakh crore has been seized and benami assets worth Rs 4,300 crore have also been attached.
UPI introduced to usher transparency
The minister, a former IAS officer, said the government used digital technology to ensure transparency and introduced the Unified Payments System (UPI). Rajiv Gandhi once said that when one rupee is sent from Delhi, only 15 paise reaches the ground. Now that is a thing of the past. The Union Minister said that the Modi government opened 45 crore Jan Dhan accounts for transparency, with the help of which Rs 26 lakh crore was sent to the beneficiaries. Thus a potential leakage of Rs 2.2 lakh crore was prevented. He said that the government has collected Rs 4.64 lakh crore by adopting a transparent policy for spectrum allocation and a record 778 million tonnes of coal has been produced.
