Mumbai. Twitter's new boss Elon Musk has announced the removal of millions of inactive accounts of the social media giant. Musk wrote in the tweet, 'Twitter will soon start freeing up the namespace of 1.5 billion (150 crore) accounts'. Since his acquisition of Twitter, Musk has made many changes to the company, of which this is one. This decision of Musk will benefit those users who want a particular user name but are unable to get it because someone has already taken it and is not using it. Space will be freed by this move of Musk, but it will also reduce Twitter's user base. Although Musk has not given much information on that part.
Made 2 major changes so far
About half the employees have been fired for cost cutting. After the retrenchment, Musk had said, "When the company is losing Rs 32.77 crore daily, we have no option but to lay off employees." Musk recently launched Twitter Blue subscription for $8 in some countries. If people don't buy it, they will lose their verified checkmark. However, this subscription has been put on hold after the number of fake accounts increased. Significantly, Musk bought Twitter for $ 44 billion. They want to make up for it soon. Apart from this, Twitter has a huge debt and Musk does not want to depend on advertisers to eliminate it.
Verified subscription service coming soon
Apart from this, Twitter can launch its verified subscription service soon. This has been claimed in a report by The Verge. Musk had said in the past that he would launch it in the first week of December. In the new system, the government, companies and common people will get different colored badges. Companies will get gold cheques, governments will get gray checks and common citizens will get blue ticks. Apart from this, all the checks will be manually checked before being activated.
