Mumbai. The number of Indian tourists visiting Dubai for sightseeing has more than doubled to 8.58 lakh in the first half of the year 2022. Giving this figure in a statement issued on Tuesday, Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) said that in the same period a year ago, the number of passengers arriving in Dubai from India was 4.09 lakh. That is, it has seen an increase of more than 100 percent. If we look at the number of passengers reaching Dubai from all over the world, then it has become 3 times as compared to last year.
71.2 lakh foreign guests arrived in Dubai
A total of 71.2 lakh foreign guests arrived in Dubai during January-June 2022, which is almost three times the number of 25.2 lakh foreign guests in the first half of 2021. 22 percent of these tourists came to Dubai from Western Europe. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, said, "This increase in tourist arrivals speaks to the combative potential and dynamism of the Dubai Emirates economy. This is in line with Dubai's ambitious goal of becoming the most visited destination. Dubai will continue to strengthen this position in the years to come. Even after the increase, the number of tourists is still yet to reach above the pre-Covid level. In the first half of 2019, before the Kovid epidemic, a total of 83.6 lakh tourists from all over the world had reached Dubai.
